Henna FAQ

Everything you might want to know before booking — duration, pricing, aftercare, and what to expect at your appointment.

How long does bridal henna last?

Natural henna stain peaks 24–48 hours after application and typically lasts 7–14 days, depending on aftercare and skin type. Stain darkens over the first two days as the dye oxidizes, then gradually fades as your skin exfoliates. Hands and palms hold colour longest; arms and feet fade slightly faster. Avoiding water for the first 12 hours and applying natural oils helps extend wear.

How early before my wedding should I book?

Bridal henna bookings should be made 2–3 months in advance for peak wedding season (May–September) and 4–6 weeks in advance for off-season dates. Saturday slots in summer fill fastest. For mehndi nights and full bridal hand-to-elbow designs, expect a 2.5–4 hour session, so booking early secures both the date and the time block you need.

How much does bridal mehndi cost in Calgary?

Bridal mehndi in Calgary typically ranges from $250 to $800+ depending on design coverage. Hands only starts around $250, hands and feet around $400, and full hands-to-elbow with feet-to-knee runs $600–$800+. Pricing reflects design intricacy, time required, and travel. For an exact quote, share photos of designs you like and the body areas you want covered when you reach out.

How do I prep my skin for a darker stain?

For the darkest possible stain, exfoliate the area gently 24 hours before your appointment and skip moisturizer on the day of application. Avoid waxing or shaving the same day. After application, leave the paste on for 6–8 hours minimum (overnight is ideal), avoid water for 12 hours after removal, and seal with natural oil. Heat — like sitting near a warm room — also helps deepen the colour.

Do you offer Jagua or glitter henna?

I specialize in 100% natural henna and do not currently offer Jagua, glitter henna, or coloured/“white” henna as primary services. Natural henna gives the rich, traditional reddish-brown stain that lasts longest and is safest for all skin types. If you have a specific look in mind, message me before booking — I’ll let you know what’s possible within natural-henna designs.

How long does a bridal session take?

A full bridal henna session typically takes 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on design intricacy and coverage. Hands-only sessions run 90 minutes to 2 hours; hands and feet around 3 hours; full bridal (hands-to-elbow plus feet) up to 4 hours. Plan for the session 1–2 days before the wedding so the stain has time to darken to its peak colour for photos.
